The ESGX Rankboard System functions as a competitive structure that awards points to teams according to their tournament placements and match victories across events listed on the ESGX calendar. This Rankboard plays a critical role in future competitions, as teams that demonstrate consistent performance throughout the ESGX circuit secure highly sought-after invitation slots based on their standings on the Rankboard.
The Rankboard is established by aggregating points earned from team results in selected tournaments within the ESGX circuit.
Welcome to the ESGX ranking system, our system celebrates the strongest of the strongest in S Rank, followed by the elite contenders in A Rank, solid performers in B Rank, and everyone starting out or building their way up in C Rank.
The season consists of four major tournaments across multiple game titles. Points are awarded separately for teams (based on team placement) and individuals (based on personal performance and placement). Only the top 6 positions in each tournament earn points—everyone else gets zero for that event. This ensures that only consistent excellence is rewarded.
Points are distributed as follows for both team and individual standings:
Position | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th |
Points Earned | 100 | 75 | 50 | 35 | 25 | 15 |
A perfect season (winning all four tournaments) yields a maximum of 400 points.
The steep drop-off after 3rd place emphasizes the importance of dominating and winning, while still rewarding consistency in the top 6.
All teams and players begin the season in C Rank with 0 points. Ranks are determined by total accumulated points across the season:
Rank | Minimum Points Required | Description & Example Path |
C-Rank | 0 | Starting rank for everyone. Suitable for new competitors or those yet to reach top 6. |
B-Rank | 100 | Achievable for consistent performers. Example: Four 4th-place finishes = 140 points. |
A-Rank | 250 | Reserved for strong contenders with multiple high finishes. Example: Two 1st places + two 4th places = 270 points. |
S-Rank | 350 | The pinnacle—requires near-perfect dominance. Example: Three 1st places + one 2nd place = 375 points. Four wins = 400 points. |
Points are only earned—never directly subtracted for poor performance—but the system includes decay and activity requirements to keep ranks meaningful and prevent inactive players/teams from holding high positions.
Inactivity Decay (applies across all ranks):
Higher Rank Penalties (stricter for A and S to maintain exclusivity):
Severe Penalties:
